There has always been something exhilaratingly different about Reading band theCOLOURS. Amidst the usual crop of identikit guitar indie, rock and metal bands, their crisp melodic pop wraps you in a euphoric blanket of epic anthems.
“Hot on the heals of the surging pop brilliance of their 2006 debut EP Aurora Borealis, SOMETHING NEW is a track so crammed with hooks and riffs it sounds like it might explode at any moment like some spectacular musical firework.” Linda Serck, BBC Introducing.
In 2008 theCOLOURS have built on a solid fanbase with relentless touring at nationally known venues such as The Jericho Tavern, Oxford, Reading’s Fez Club, The Metro Club, and Leeds Trash Club; University Balls have included Oxford, Cambridge, Roehampton, and Reading. Support slots with buzz bands The Wombats, Dan le sac Vs Sroobius Pip, Boy Kill Boy, The Noisettes, Zoot Woman, Infadels and Blackbud surely emphasises the calibre of theCOLOURS.
The applause for the band has been steadily building into a raging thunderstorm, rolling in from all directions including US Radio Station KEDJ naming theCOLOURS track “Fallen Soliders” as record of the week in Feb 08, Huw Stephens Radio 1, The Fly Magazine, Teen magazine Sugar, Channel 4’s John Earls, Oxford’s respected Nightshift Magazine, & label Fierce Panda.
With a plethora of regional BBC Radio plays and live sessions behind them, and Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman selecting “Singing Ships” to soundtrack her website www.edithbowman.com from April 2008, surely this is going to be the year that theCOLOURS break onto the national consciousness.
